🍽️ The Food Gap — Why Partner Countries Need Pakistan

OPTIMAL INSTRUMENT
Planting Growing Harvest Current month

Based on Pakistan PARC (Pakistan Agricultural Research Council) seasonal data

🟢 Active Salam Contract Window
Salam (forward purchase) contracts must be entered at planting time — delivering commodity at harvest. Right now in June, these crops are in prime Salam window.

🌾 June Salam Opportunities — Enter Now, Receive at Harvest

Salam contracts are ideal right now for Kharif season crops. The investor pays today (full price upfront — no riba), receives certified produce at harvest (Oct–Nov). Structurally perfect for GCC/Malaysian Islamic banks seeking food security supply contracts.

🏔️ Gilgit-Baltistan Seasons — The Off-Season Opportunity
GB is a high-altitude, late harvester: its fruit and potato come in Aug–Oct, exactly when the plains also flush — so selling fresh at harvest means glut prices. Cold storage flips this, shifting sales into the high-price winter and off-season windows.

🌰 Walnuts / almonds $$★$HH$$★
H = harvest / glut ▒ = in cold store $ = high-price sell window ★ = demand spike (weddings / Ramadan / off-season potato peak)
❄️ Sell into winter, not at harvest
Stored apples and dried fruit released Dec–Apr meet wedding-season and Ramadan demand — when domestic fresh supply is gone.
🥔 Seed potato to the plains
GB's cool climate yields premium, disease-free seed — held and dispatched to Punjab spring planters in Dec–Jan.
🕌 The right instrument at each step
Salam funds the grower at the glut, Ijara the cold store, Murabaha the trade to buyers, Takaful the storage risk — each fitted to its case.

The agri-finance gap on the PSX: there is no pure-play listed agri-lender. ZTBL (Zarai Taraqiati Bank) — Pakistan's largest agricultural lender — is state-owned and unlisted, while commercial banks (HBL, MCB, UBL, NBP) and microfinance banks carry agri loan books inside broader portfolios. That gap is exactly the layer AgroHub's Trust & Capacity Index & data infrastructure is built to fill.
Prices are indicative, sourced from public market data (Sarmaaya, Investing.com, PSX, KTrade, stockanalysis.com) at the dates noted per row — most as of mid-June 2026, some early-to-mid May 2026 where that was the latest available. Figures move daily; verify live on dps.psx.com.pk before any decision. This is market information, not investment advice.

Market Signal: The Gap AgroHub Exists to Close

Pakistan's agricultural output is growing — rice production up 2.8% to 9.99M tonnes, vegetables up 12.6%, fruit up 2.8% in FY26.[1] Over the same period, bank-settled export receipts to three of AgroHub's core Islamic-finance capital markets have declined: Saudi Arabia ($710M → $530M, 9-month annualized), Malaysia ($582M → $167M, 9-month annualized), UAE–Dubai ($1.88B → $1.41B).[2]

Read together, this is not weaker Pakistani agriculture — it is Pakistani agricultural surplus that is not being monetized through the banking system in exactly the corridors AgroHub targets. Closing that gap, not creating new supply, is the addressable market.
